He-Man Dual Controls are proud to have a close working relationship with Southampton Solent University.
Students from the Creative Media department have been employed to create animations and videos that are used on the He-Man web site as well as other promotional media. This quality of work is excellent and provides students with the opportunity to apply their skills in a business environment whilst being able to charge for their skills.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in visits to the He-Man factory where they can witness the full process from initial design and prototyping, through manufacturing stages, finishing procedures and even the despatch of the completed order. Students are able to see practical applications for machinery they have used at the university, discover new machinery not available at the university and see how their skills can be brought into a business environment.
Use of the university’s testing laboratories have enabled He-Man to extend their product testing, especially when developing new products and components. Again, elements of this can be used in the classroom so that students are able to connect with the relevance of the tests and see how important testing and quality is in a safety critical business.
The Knowledge Transfer Partnership between He-Man and the university has enabled the company to employ a highly skilled graduate to bring fresh ideas and new skills to the company. Based at the company the graduate is supported and mentored both by He-Man and the university, with extensive support and use of university facilities.
He-Man are very proud to have been awarded Investors in People Gold in 2015 recognising their commitment to developing skills and supporting business knowledge both within the company and externally. The relationship with Southampton Solent University has proven both beneficial and rewarding for everyone involved. We look forward to working even closer with the university.
